ABOUT THE CCMGS
Established in 1950, the Contra Costa Mineral & Gem Society is located in Concord, California. We are a group of rock and mineral enthusiasts that get together in sharing, learning and exploring all things rock-related. Educational monthly meetings, public events, and club activities are just a few ways we serve our club's purpose of promoting popular interest and education in the earth sciences including geology, mineralogy, paleontology, lapidary arts, and other related subjects. We work to support the rights of amateur rock-collecting hobbyists across our county and beyond; including advocating for public accessibility to prospecting, mining, and utilization of public and private lands for both educational and recreational purposes.

ABOUT THE CCMGS
LEARN ABOUT CCMGS CLUB HISTORY
Serving California’s greater East Bay Area for over 70 years, the Contra Costa Mineral & Gem Society was originally founded by _________ and _________. Through their admiration for geology and mineralogy, our club’s founders created the CCMGS to promote community interest in all things rock-related. As an advocate for rock-hounding rights, the CCMGS has always been involved in protecting and supporting the rights and access of the public to participate in such recreational activities (see slideshow for CCMGS advocacy letter to BLM about rockhounding access to the Black Rock Desert Area). Still to this day, it continues to be our club’s mission to keep fighting for these rights everywhere, all while aiming to provide an educational and memorable experience for every member that’s ever joined.
Over the club’s long history, the CCMGS has hosted many different events, most notably being our always anticipated Gem & Mineral Show which has occurred annually over the past _______ years. Throughout the decades, we have offered educational crafting and art classes such as wire wrapping, arrowhead knapping, fusing and staining of glass, and soapstone carving to name just a few. The CCMGS has also hosted events over time that focus more on educating the community about the rockin’ world including activities like informational seminars, local and out-of-state field trips, and collaborating with schools and other youth organizations. During our club’s existence, the CCMGS and its members have been distinguished with several awards for our accomplishments and commitment such as _______, _______, and _________. We truly look forward to the many years to come for the CCMGS and its members as well as the future opportunities we will have to continue serving out our organization’s mission.
